We’re deeply connected to the local community and we care passionately about Dover and its fabulous treasure trove of world-class assets.
So much so that when we heard about an opportunity to get involved in a regeneration project just up the road we jumped at the chance!
The magnificent Fort Burgoyne is a well-preserved Victorian fort, built in 1860 to defend Dover from invasion, Fort Burgoyne was in military use until the early 2000s when it was handed over to The Land Trust.
The Land Trust have commissioned a team to stabilise the historic structure and to develop the site for public use and enjoyment.
And our head honcho Gavin Oakley is part of this team!
Gavin has formed an organisation called Albion inc. along with John Orchard & Peter Cocks to work alongside specialist heritage architects Lee Evans and DAD (Dover Arts Development) in conjunction with Charles Holland Architects to develop ideas for the future use of the site.
In the first year, Albion will consult with the local community, local and international artists, local businesses and social groups and begin to create a culture around the Fort that will light the touchpaper for the exciting future of Fort Burgoyne and a bright new vision for the town of Dover.
